Beautiful Day on golf course Diners Ljubljana

It is true that life always averages out as last year at the same tournament sponsored by Konica Minolta we had rain falling for the entire day while this year’s tournament was marked by what was probably the most wonderful day of the year so far. Accordingly, the tournament was complete and perfect. Marko Štirn opined that there were 30 players more that wanted to play, but the organiser chose quality over record-breaking. However, records are bound to be broken at the next tournament in Zagreb, Croatia.

Players from five countries gathered on a fresh morning. As always, 85% of them were managers and the rest were playing in the Open classification. This year we saw mostly players from Slovenia and Croatia, though the number of players from the other five countries where this year’s tournaments will be held keeps increasing. There will be golf players coming from at least 15 countries. Some 30 players from Croatia visited the G&CC Diners course at Smlednik. They were all delighted over the exemplary arrangement of the course, its infrastructure and the tournament organisation.

Everything at the tournament was organised in an exemplary manner, ranging from the application procedure, the delicious lunch provided by the Austrian Landhaus St. Georg Hotel, to massages for all players by Alive, a dynamic team of young sports experts. After their “walk around the green”, the players were given the opportunity to experience an adrenaline ride with the Renovatio 208, a Slovenian supercar by ALMYN Sports car, a gold sponsor of the league.

With wind ruffling their hair, the players could experience the thrill of driving with Aljoša Tušek,
the former mountain race champion and the designer of the car. He exclusively showcased the development of the car that will be launched in early 2012 with a price tag of around €500,000. The designers are seeking investors for the project and have already received their first purchase orders from outside Slovenia.

The best players at the first hole in group one were Slovenia’s best chef Janez Bratovž and Joc Javornik, manager of Konica Minolta Slovenia for the past 15 years. Janez Bratovž replaced Božidar Novak, the honorary sponsor of the tournament, who could not play due to injury. Playing alongside them in the honorary group were Iztok Klančnik and Marko Korač, the IMC&OT league founder. Hermina Černigoj was the winner among the managers in the gross overall score. In the male competition, first place went to last year’s league winner Vlado Karažinec. In the Open classification, Marjeta Gebels had the highest gross overall score.

The organisers awarded and brought joy to the winners with the magnificent Steklarna Rogaška cups, which are renowned for their splendour. They are even bigger and more valuable this year. A prize drawing competition was organised for all other players; the prizes included a weekend at a hotel, a supercar ride, a printer, etc. A beautiful day should have a good ending, wouldn’t you agree? In its five years of existence, the International Managers Cup & Open Tour league became one of the best leagues in this part of Europe and can now stand toe-to-toe with similar leagues.

The selection of next year’s courses is causing pleasant concerns seeing that top golf courses are fighting to win over or keep IMC&OT. Golf courses that have stayed on the list for more than 3 years are rare. The Smlednik course is among them because its excellent reputation is wholly justified.
The next tournament will take place on 22 May in Zagreb, Croatia. This will be one
of the largest tournaments in the region, so you should apply as soon as possible. As in the years before, the Importanne Resort Tournament will be a veritable golf holiday, and rightfully so.
